Happy St. Patrick’s Day readers! I hope you’re feeling the luck of the Irish today, and every day that follows! In honor of our favorite mini-holiday, we’re going to help you green-lovers design your home around the lucky color.
When people think of a green room, they typically think of a place where movies and television shows are recorded, or, if you’re more of a nature lover, where plants grow. But a green room can be a place in your home too, and it doesn’t have to look drab, out of date or in your face.
Green is one of the most calm and tranquil paint colors for any room in a home, but only when done right. Below, we’re going to share with you some of the best ways to play up our favorites green interior paint colors:
Garden Green: When trying to think of what to pair your luscious, garden green wall color with, all you have to do is picture a beautiful garden. What do you see? Beautiful flowers of various vibrant colors: red roses, purple hyacinth, pink tulips, yellow daises, white baby’s breath. With this in mind, create the same feel in your home by bringing in vibrantly colored accent pieces to really make the garden green of your walls pop!

Yellow Green: Yellow greens can be a bit trickier to work with, as both yellow and green are strong wall colors. Mix them together and throw them on your walls, and you get a truly unique feel. However, to keep it from becoming overwhelming, pair the wall color with white and gray accents. If you really want to make that yellow-green wall color pop, paint a single wall the shade and let it do the talking.
Lemongrass Green: Lemon grass green is a lighter shade of yellow-green, and is a lot easier on the yes. Small spaces – like bathrooms – would look good in this color, as the shade really expands a small room and gives it a light and airy feel. For accent pieces, trying more natural accessories, like bamboo, tans and beiges.
Lime Green: It’s really very hard to pull off lime green, but some homeowners do it! When they do though, it’s because they use it as an accent color, and not as the main wall color. Think of using a splash of lime in your foyer to give off a fun, first impression, or even on your front door. If you use lime green as an interior paint color, try to tone it down with natural colored accent pieces, wood pieces and other soft tones found in nature.
Sage Green: Sage green can really make a place feel like an organic, earthy retreat, so if that’s the feel you’re going for, sage green is the wall color for you! Because of its natural feel, sage green pairs great with other earthy colors, such as browns and taupe.
Mint Green: Mint green is really making a comeback as a wall color these days. I particularly love this color for many reasons, the most important being that it’s so versatile! It can be used to create a farmhouse feel, or a classy, French-boutique feel. It can be used in a nursery, a master bedroom or a living room. Furthermore, it’s a very relaxing color, making it a great color for any room of the house. Lastly, it’s easy to match, so whether you want white accessories, black accessories, wood accent pieces, or even purple accessories, you’ll be able to play with accent pieces and accessories all you want in a mint green room, and it’ll always look good!
Spearmint: Spearmint greens have a deep-blue quality to them, but they’re not quite turquoise. Because of this, spearmint greens tend to pair well with dark browns, darker wood stains and blacks. They’re also best used in bathrooms, sunrooms, offices and bedrooms.
Warm Green: If you want to create a homey, inviting feel, a warm green wall color is the ticket. Warm green represents harmony and balance, and instantly relaxes even the most tense of individuals.
